…More than needles

East Asian Medicine (EAM) is a system of medicine thousands of years old that originates in modern day China. It includes all aspects of our lives and is still applicable today. It includes acupuncture, moxibustion, gua sha, body work, nutrition, tai qi and qi gong. According to the World Health Organization, East Asian Medicine has been proven effective for a number of conditions. These include low back pain, knee pain, sprains, headaches, painful menses, allergies, depression, hypertension, gastritis, nausea, vomiting, sciatica, stroke and more.

An EAM practitioner must first determine where the imbalance lies. They will use clues from your history as well as physical signs in your body to determine what is in excess or what may be deficient. Then they will prescribe a treatment that may include certain types of food, movement exercises, environment harmony, energy balance or a combination of all the above. It is simple, elegant and personal to your unique being. April uses high quality new, sterile and non-reusable needles in all treatments.

April received a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine from Bastyr University. Notable acupuncture training includes Family Medicine at UW Ravenna and NeighborCare Colombia City, Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia at Harborview in Seattle, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Chungdu University of TCM in China, Traumatology at two hospitals (Longhua and Shuguang) through Shanghai University of TCM in China and a Third World Primary Care Immersion in rural Nepal. She is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed in Washington state (AC60691659).
